Your Pool Surface

Is your pool deck cracking, flaking, or too hot to walk on barefoot?

  • Cracks and spider-cracking across the slab
  • Pop-offs and flaking where the surface is lifting
  • Discoloration and stubborn staining
  • Uneven or lifted edges that are a trip hazard
  • Surface too hot to walk on barefoot in summer

The Service

What deck and patio renovation covers: resurface, repair, or fully renovate

We take three paths depending on what your deck actually needs, and we will tell you honestly which fits.

Resurface

If the slab is structurally sound but the surface is worn, faded, or uncomfortably hot, resurfacing is usually the right call. We install a new decorative surface, Rubberstone most often, directly over what you have, without a full tear-out.

Targeted repair

If the deck has cracks, pop-offs, or lifted edges, we address those repairs first, because no resurfacing system lasts if the slab under it is not right.

Full renovation

When the surface is past resurfacing or the whole patio area needs rethinking, we handle the fuller renovation too, and we can coordinate it with your pool work if you are doing both.

How We Do It

The prep is what makes it last, and Rubberstone is what makes it worth it

The finish goes on in a day, the prep takes a week, and that is the difference between a deck that lasts and one that fails again in two summers.

Prep comes first

We apply that creed to every deck project. The existing slab is assessed, repaired, and prepared correctly before any new surface goes on, because a resurfacing system is only as good as what is under it.

Then the Rubberstone surface

Rubberstone is a poured, decorative resurfacing system we install over your existing pool deck or patio. It is soft underfoot, more forgiving than bare concrete on bare feet, and it stays cooler underfoot than typical concrete or stamped surfaces in the sun.

First, we read the deck

Before anything else, we get eyes on the slab. We look at crack type, depth, and pattern; where the surface is lifting or popping off; whether any edges are uneven or presenting a trip hazard; and the overall structural condition underneath. That assessment is what tells us whether resurfacing, targeted repair, or a fuller renovation is the honest answer for your deck. We tell you which, and we explain why.

Repair and prep the slab before anything goes on top

The finish goes on in a day, the prep takes a week. That is not a figure of speech; it is the part that determines whether your new deck surface lasts or fails. We clean the slab, address cracks and pop-offs, level lifted edges, and prepare the surface so it can actually hold what goes on top of it. Skip any of that, and a resurfacing system fails the same way the old surface did. We do not skip it, because we are the ones who would have to come back.

The finish goes on in a day

Once the slab is properly prepped, the Rubberstone surface goes on. It is a poured, decorative installation that the crew delivers in a single day because the groundwork was done correctly. The result is soft and cooler underfoot and backed by a 10-year manufacturer replacement warranty plus a 5-year dealer warranty. We are the local Rubberstone dealer, so when warranty questions come up in year two or year seven, you have a local team to call, not a 1-800 number.

The principle we build on

Chris built this company on a simple idea: if you prep it right, it lasts; if it lasts, you do not have to come back and fix it. As the local Rubberstone dealer and installer, we have more reason than anyone to do the prep correctly, because we are the ones responsible for the warranty. That accountability is built into how we work on every deck we touch.

Why Probuilt

Why Kansas City homeowners choose Probuilt for deck and patio work

Deck and pool, one local team

Because we renovate pool surfaces (ecoFINISH® coatings and gunite/fiberglass refinishing) and decks/patios, you can have both done together by one local family, on one schedule, instead of managing a pool contractor and a separate concrete contractor. One family, one phone number that picks up.

Local Rubberstone dealer

We are the local Rubberstone dealer in the Kansas City metro. Rubberstone is a poured decorative resurfacing system that is soft and cooler underfoot than bare concrete or stamped surfaces, and it carries a real, grounded warranty. Full details are in the section above.

Prep done right, every time

The finish goes on in a day; the prep takes a week. A resurfacing system is only as good as the slab and the prep under it, and a shortcut there is why some deck surfaces fail again in two summers. We do the prep correctly, the first time.

Local, here for warranty work

Ask yourself who is coming back to fix it in year three. We are a Kansas City family operation, close to your driveway, not a company working out of a service center across the state. When warranty questions come up, there is a local team to call.

10 years of KC pool experience behind every project

Every deck project we take on is backed by 10 years of Kansas City pool experience from the Probuilt Pool & Patio team, a family-owned and operated operation with a BBB A+ Rating.

Cost and Warranty

What to expect on cost and warranty

Pool deck and patio renovation is project-based pricing, because the right approach for your deck (resurface, targeted repair, or full renovation) and the size of the area drive the number. The honest figure comes from a free, no-pressure quote, which is how we start every project. For Rubberstone applications, the surface carries a 10-year manufacturer replacement warranty plus a 5-year dealer warranty. Warranty terms vary by product line and are updated frequently, so check with your Probuilt rep for current warranty details on your specific project.

A reliable, family-run local team

We are sadly remiss in reviewing them because we've been too busy having a blast enjoying it all summer!!! They are well-deserving of their BBB A+ Rating. We wish they performed every service a house could need, inside and out, as they are THE MOST reliable company we have EVER worked with while also being extremely polite, friendly, and helpful throughout the entire process, in every way possible. We highly recommend them!!!

Common Questions

Common questions about pool deck and patio renovation

What is Rubberstone?

Rubberstone is a poured, decorative resurfacing system we install over your existing pool deck or patio. It is soft underfoot and stays cooler underfoot than typical concrete or stamped surfaces in the sun, which matters when bare feet are part of the picture all summer. Rubberstone applications carry a 10-year manufacturer replacement warranty plus a 5-year dealer warranty. Warranty terms vary by product line and are updated frequently, so check with your Probuilt rep for current warranty details on your specific project. We are the local Rubberstone dealer in the Kansas City metro, which means installation and any future warranty service have a local answer here.

Can you make my pool deck cooler? It gets too hot to walk on barefoot in summer.

Yes. This is one of the main reasons Kansas City homeowners choose Rubberstone for their pool decks. Rubberstone stays cooler underfoot than bare concrete or typical stamped surfaces when sitting in the sun, and it is soft underfoot rather than the hard, unforgiving surface that bare concrete becomes by July. If a hot, uncomfortable deck is part of why you are looking at this, Rubberstone is worth a conversation.

How do you fix a cracked or flaking pool deck?

It depends on the deck. Some cracked or flaking decks need targeted repair of the cracks and pop-offs before resurfacing, some can be resurfaced directly once they are cleaned and prepped, and some are past resurfacing and need a fuller renovation. We assess the slab first and tell you honestly which of the three paths is the right one for your deck. A resurfacing system is only as good as the prep under it, so if the slab needs repair first, we do that before anything goes on top.

Can you resurface my pool deck instead of tearing it out?

Often yes. If your slab is structurally sound, resurfacing is usually the right call: we install a new decorative surface (Rubberstone is a common choice) over what you already have, without a full tear-out. We will tell you honestly if your deck is past resurfacing and a more complete renovation is the better path. The assessment comes before any proposal, and we do not talk you into a bigger project than your deck actually needs.

Can you do my pool and my deck at the same time?

Yes. Because we renovate pool surfaces (ecoFINISH coatings and gunite/fiberglass refinishing) and pool decks and patios, we can coordinate both on one schedule with one local team. You are not managing a pool contractor and a separate concrete contractor, juggling two schedules, and hoping the timing works out. One family, one phone number that picks up. If you are planning both, tell us in your quote request and we will plan around it.

How much does pool deck renovation cost?

Pool deck and patio renovation is project-based pricing. The right approach for your deck (resurface, targeted repair, or full renovation) and the size of the area are what drive the number, so a meaningful cost figure comes from actually looking at your deck. The real number comes from a free, no-pressure quote. We will assess the slab, tell you which path fits, and give you a specific number to consider, with no obligation.
