Your Pool Surface

Is your pool surface rough, staining, or showing its age?

We have seen it many times: a pool surface that started out smooth now cuts bare feet, plaster that has stained deep enough that scrubbing does nothing, and a finish that has faded so far from its original color that the pool just looks tired. If your pool is somewhere between fifteen and twenty-two years old and you keep fighting the same surface battles season after season, your pool is telling you it's time for a real solution.

ecoFINISH is built to address exactly those problems at the root. Because it is pH-neutral and heat-fused into a single continuous shell, it does not stain, does not roughen over time, and does not give algae the foothold that plaster does. If that sounds like what your pool needs, you're in the right place.

The Service

What ecoFINISH is, and why it works differently.

See ecoFINISH vs. plaster

ecoFINISH is a thermo-polymer powder coating designed for concrete, fiberglass, and metal pool surfaces. We spray it over your existing surface and heat-fuse it into a single continuous shell, so there are no seams, no gaps, and nothing for staining or algae to grip onto. Because it is pH-neutral, it does not react with your water the way plaster does: plaster is porous and chemically active, pushing your pH up and demanding constant correction. ecoFINISH sits quietly in the background, holding its color, staying soft underfoot, and not fighting your water chemistry. That is a fundamentally different surface, and if you want the full head-to-head between the two, we cover it honestly on our ecoFINISH vs plaster page.

aquaBRIGHT

aquaBRIGHT is a smooth, luminous ecoFINISH finish with a clean, polished look that works beautifully in pools where you want the color to read as deep and vivid. It's a good fit if you want a finish that feels refined and contemporary.

PebbleTone

PebbleTone brings a natural, textured pebble quality to your pool surface. It's our ecoFINISH finish for homeowners who want the visual warmth and character of an aggregate look without sacrificing the pH-neutral, heat-fused benefits of the ecoFINISH system.

polyFIBRO

polyFIBRO is a smooth-textured ecoFINISH finish that offers a clean, consistent surface character. It's well suited to pools where a refined, even finish is the priority and where you want the finish to stay looking that way without fighting to maintain it.

How We Do It

The prep is what makes it last.

The finish goes on in a day. The prep takes a week. That sentence is the whole story of why some ecoFINISH jobs hold up for a decade and others do not. A heat-fused polymer coating is only as good as what it bonds to, and if the substrate underneath is not properly prepared, the best polymer on the market will fail early. We have seen what happens when prep is skipped. We see the results of patch-and-pray workmanship on jobs we are called in to fix, and it is not what we do. Our process is deliberate, and it begins long before the spray rig shows up.

A crew preparing the substrate of a drained pool, grinding and repairing the surface before ecoFINISH application.

Assess and Prepare the Substrate

Before we touch a spray gun, we drain the pool and assess the existing surface from every angle. Cracks are addressed, bond problems are remedied, and the substrate is made right. This is the week of real work, and it is unglamorous. No one takes a photo of surface prep, but it is the reason the finished coating performs the way it should. We do not rush this step to get to the part that looks good.

Spray and Heat-Fuse the Coating

Once the substrate is ready, the ecoFINISH polymer is applied by spray and then heat-fused directly to the surface. The result is a single continuous shell with no seams and no gaps where staining or algae can take hold. The heat-fusion step is what makes this coating structurally different from a painted or brushed-on finish: the polymer is bonded to the substrate rather than simply sitting on top of it. When the prep is correct, that bond holds.

Balance and Swim

ecoFINISH uses a startup process called Balance and Swim: fill the pool, balance the water chemistry, and get in. There is no extended hot-start period. With plaster, you typically wait roughly two weeks while the surface cures and the chemistry stabilizes. With ecoFINISH, you are swimming in days. That is a real, concrete benefit for any homeowner who would rather be in the pool than waiting on the sidelines.

We prep the way we do because we are the ones who come back if something goes wrong. Our showroom is in Riverside, MO, close to the neighborhoods we serve. We are not a crew that drives in from 2.5 hours away, finishes the job, and hopes the phone never rings again. The motivation is straightforward: do the prep right and the warranty call never comes. That is a better reason to do good work than any guarantee printed on paper.

Why Probuilt

Why Kansas City homeowners choose Probuilt for ecoFINISH.

The Only ecoFINISH Dealer in Kansas City

Prep Done Right

The finish goes on in a day. The prep takes a week. We do not skip the week, because a heat-fused coating is only as good as the substrate it bonds to.

Local, Not Traveling

When you need us, a local team shows up, not someone driving 2.5 hours. Local means we are accountable in a way a distant crew simply cannot be.

10 Years of KC Pool Experience

Our work is backed by 10 years of Kansas City pool experience under the Probuilt Pool & Patio team. We know what KC pools need and what they go through season to season.

10-Year Manufacturer Warranty

ecoFINISH carries a 10-year manufacturer warranty with Probuilt Renovations as your dealer and installer. Unlike plaster warranties, which typically require documented water-chemistry records for the entire warranty period, the ecoFINISH warranty does not carry that catch. Check with your Probuilt rep for current warranty details on your specific project.

Family Owned and Operated

We are a small Kansas City family operation. The same people who sell you the project are the ones responsible for how it turns out. You can reach us, and that matters.

Cost and Warranty

What does ecoFINISH cost in Kansas City?

A typical ecoFINISH pool coating project runs around $25,000. That is a typical figure, not a fixed price and not a quote. Every pool is different in size, condition, and prep requirements, and the real number for your project comes from a free, no-pressure estimate. We will tell you what we find and what it will cost before anything begins. ecoFINISH does cost more up front than replastering. Over the full arc of pool ownership, though, the total cost lands in roughly the same place as repeat replastering, so this is not a way to save money over the life of your pool. The real reasons to choose ecoFINISH are that you drain your pool fewer times over the years, you spend less on chemicals month to month because a pH-neutral surface does not push your water chemistry around the way plaster does, and you get a better result that stays looking better for longer and comes back swimmable fast with the Balance and Swim startup. For a closer look at how the numbers work over time, see our pool resurfacing cost guide and our full ecoFINISH vs plaster comparison.

Common Questions

Common questions about ecoFINISH pool coatings.

How long does ecoFINISH last?

ecoFINISH is built to last for years. The manufacturer states a lifespan of 15 or more years, and the product carries a 10-year manufacturer warranty with Probuilt Renovations as your dealer and installer. That longevity figure comes from the manufacturer's own education materials, not from our own measured install history, which is why we cite it that way. For a full look at what affects longevity and how it compares with replastering over time, see our guide on how long ecoFINISH lasts.

How much does ecoFINISH cost in Kansas City?

A typical ecoFINISH pool coating project in Kansas City runs around $25,000. That is a typical figure and it varies by pool size and condition, so it is not a fixed price and not a quote. The real number for your specific pool comes from a free, no-pressure estimate. We will tell you what we find and what it will cost before any work begins. For a broader look at pool resurfacing costs in the area, see our pool resurfacing cost guide.

How long does the project take, and when can I swim?

Most ecoFINISH projects involve about one week of active work, with total project time typically running two to four weeks depending on scope and weather. The startup is called Balance and Swim: fill the pool, balance the water chemistry, and get in. You are in the pool in days, not weeks. With plaster, you typically wait roughly two weeks while the surface cures through a hot-start process. That contrast is real and it matters when you are planning your season.

Is ecoFINISH better than replastering?

ecoFINISH is a pH-neutral polymer that does not react with your water the way plaster does, so it resists staining and algae adhesion and holds up longer than a plaster surface. Plaster is cheaper up front and it is still a legitimate choice for many pools. The honest answer is that ecoFINISH wins on surface performance and longevity, and plaster wins on up-front cost. For the full, side-by-side picture including cost over time and maintenance differences, we cover everything on our ecoFINISH vs plaster comparison page.

What colors does ecoFINISH come in?

ecoFINISH comes in 20 colors and they are all priced identically, so your color choice is purely a matter of preference. Some of the colors we see homeowners drawn to include Sandy Beach, Sahara Sand, Midnight Blue, Perle Noire, French Grey, and Grey Reef. The best way to choose is to see them in person in real light. Visit our showroom at 4708 NW Gateway Ave in Riverside, MO, open Monday through Friday 9 to 5 and Saturday 9 to 4.

Are there any downsides to ecoFINISH, or what should I know about ecoFINISH problems?

The honest trade-off is up-front cost. ecoFINISH is a premium product and it is not the cheapest way to refinish a pool. Over the long run of pool ownership, the total cost lands in roughly the same place as repeat replastering, so you choose ecoFINISH for the better, longer-lasting result and less maintenance burden, not to save money over the life of the pool. That is the real trade-off, and we think you deserve to hear it plainly.
